Where have I been? (updates)

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 9, 2013, 3:31 PM

profile | YouTube | Facebook

Unfortunately, I disappeared off the face of the planet a little! (or at least, off the face of DeviantArt)
Truthfully, I always feel a little awkward updating my journal when I don't have actual content to be updating with, but I can say cosplay content will be finally coming very very soon!

It's been over a year since I first started my Link cosplay (time never stops flying), and as improvements are always necessary,  it's been getting quite an overhaul!
Those who already follow my Facebook page have probably already seen the tunic and hat are all new, but that's only the beginning of what's to come! The arm guard's sleeves have been DYING to stop being felt, and a different color, and while this still isn't 100% ideal, it's definitely an improvement: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…
The belts must be completely redone with a new fabric and bigger buckles to allow for more width; no progress photos on that yet, but hopefully soon! More is going to be reworked, but I'll leave the rest as a surprise ^_^

I'm hoping most everything will be completed before the 14th; because that's Hurricon time! www.facebook.com/MiamiHurricon
Hurricon holds special memories for me, so I really hope to be able to impress the judges with as many improvements to my costume as possible, and to FINALLY do some cosplay photography!

As to where else I've been, I'm mostly residing in the YouTube corner of the internet, slowly but surely working on song covers and dubbing! This is my latest role: youtu.be/z83sE9i9vtE I spent over 80 hours working on that episode's sfx and I can safely say I never want to do that again! :'D

I've also been fighting germs! Hooray!
This year started out rough for me and has still been rough around the edges but I hope everyone else has been doing better than I, and is progressing in life at the pace they desire ^_^
I've been totally out of the deviantart loop in general, so for those of you who still watch me, tell me what's up in your life!

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Gurren Lagann OST
  • Drinking: Water

^^ I expected you to be quite busy, so don't worry about the short absence from deviantart.
It's good to read you're ok, atleast as far as the circumstances these days allow it. :)

As for myself,...i started to work on a new version of the Hylian shield from Skyward Sword.
So far, it's going quite well. :D

Ah Hurricon... I've been debating on entering - though not as Zelda cuz that would be cheating. >.> At the same time, I don't really have much else that I can enter, though I do have another in mind. What's Hurricon's costume contest system like, if you don't mind answering?

Umm, I would say it's the same as every other system I've been in xD You sign papers, get interviewed by judges (there were 3 last time, all lovely people) and tell them about your costume during prejudging, then later strike poses for a crowd. For 2012, the cosplay contest was done just in a small room with seating for give or take 50ish people.
It's a really small con, and I think last year the majority of people attending weren't cosplaying, so I don't think there will be much change in terms of contest stuff, but still much fun to be had either way! ^_^

Ah, some systems are more up to par than others. Sometimes, judging changes a bit depending on sizes of con, though it seems like this is a good system despite the size. I'm proud of S. Florida cons, they're up to par on everything. :3
And yeah, it is tiny. I didn't even know it existed last year. Heck, I barely knew it existed this year and I attend classes at UM!
While I'll be going in cosplay I doubt I'll enter the contest, though. All the costumes I currently have aren't really competition standards... Ah well, if I see you there I'll be sure to say hello! :3

Yeah, I actually think all the systems here are really good ^_^ I've never been to a con out of state though, so if it's different in other places that would strike me as weird D:

Haha, I know right? I only knew it existed last year because a friend told me about it; otherwise I'd be totally out of the loop! They must not be doing a very good job at advertising xP And you should totally enter if it's something you enjoy!

I don't know if Zelda would be permitted because you were awarded at FSC and Hurricon is sponsored by them (so this may be a special case, heck I don't even know if my Link will be permitted, I'm just crossing fingers because it's been completely redone since last Hurricon), but I would say if it's to your enjoyment, you could still enter as someone that you may not think is up to usual standards, and still be pleasantly surprised with an award ^_^
And yush! Hey's, hi's and hello's must be had! :3

Yeah, the systems vary on location. I've heard some horror stories of major disorganization in other cons, but that's mostly in smaller cons, which was my main worry with Hurricon because really, Hurricon's tiny.

Oh I'll be going in cosplay there's no doubt of it, but when I enter competition I enter to win - it sounds really bad but the fact is I'm just hideously competitive and a sore loser. I try to tell myself it's friendly completion but my minds inner working don't seem to make much of a distinction. ^^; I'd rather save myself and everyone else from the grief of my piss-poor attitude. Most of my award worthy consumes are still in progress and won't be debuted until Supercon soooo... But yeah, Zelda definitely can't be entered. ^^;

But since Hurricon is so tiny, I'm wondering if I could enter anyways in an attempt for "just for fun." I just don't know how my ugly inner competition monster will handle it. D:
